My name is Daniel Quintero Vallejo, and I am a Ph.D. student in Biological Sciences at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). My main research interest is the evolution of biodiversity. I am particularly fascinated by understanding the factors that shape diversification patterns over time, across space, and among different biological groups. How and when did the incredible diversity of life we see today originate? Why do some groups have more species than others? Why are there more species in certain places than in others? To address these questions, I use macroevolutionary approaches, focusing on Neotropical amphibians as my study group. Recently, I have been working with Eleutherodactylus, a genus of frogs naturally distributed across the Caribbean islands and the mainland, two contrasting environments that offer unique insights into the processes driving biodiversity.
