I’m Norma, and I’m a physical anthropologist. I’m interested in human evolution and aging from a biological perspective, and I’m currently researching aging in dogs. I’m looking at a specific enzyme in their blood called GPx, and how it changes with age, weight, breed, and other variables.
Aging is something we all go through, but it happens at different rates depending on the species. Humans and dogs have been living together for thousands of years, making them a great example of how a shared environment and evolutionary pressures can affect lifespan. By studying how these processes have shaped their lives, we can learn much more about how they work and what this means for our own lives.
